On behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to thank everyone who attended the 2023 HEIA(Q) State Conference at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on 26 August.
The 2023 HEIA(Q) State Conference comprised of 265 attendees, 2 keynote speakers, 22 concurrent speakers, 12 exhibitors and 3 sponsors.
Innovators and change makers
This year’s conference celebrated Home Economics practitioners as Innovators and change makers. Innovation is transformative, it can inspire and challenge, strengthen and support. It motivates us to disrupt the status quo and develop new and improved solutions to the complex challenges of modern life. The 2023 HEIA(Q) State Conference explored how Home Economists can use innovation to drive change in the 21st Century, to devise fresh solutions to every day experiences, in a way that promotes equity and has learners thriving.

The conference attracted approximately 265 delegates, including:
- Individuals and organisations with an interest in home economics, food and nutrition, health, wellbeing, textiles, design, fashion, technologies
- Individuals and organisations with an interest in the curriculum, pedagogy and assessment for the above areas of study
